Student Guide to Krakow Public Transit

Krakow is without a doubt one of the most important academic capitals in Poland, bringing together over 200,000 students at more than 20 universities every single year. However, moving to a new city always comes with the challenge of organizing efficient transportation between home, the department, and the center of social life.

How Much Does a Ride Cost with a Student Discount?

If you have a valid student ID or an ISIC card (up to 26 years old), you are entitled to a 50% discount on all rides. Buying personal monthly passes is the most cost-effective option. According to the current tariff, the prices of network tickets for Zone I (the entire city) for students are:
• 49.50 PLN – with a Krakow Card (resident status).
• 96.50 PLN – metropolitan ticket (without resident status).
Such a ticket gives you unlimited access to over 20 tram lines and 60 bus lines.

Tram or Bus? How to Avoid Traffic Jams
During morning and afternoon rush hours in Krakow, trams are the key to success. For the most part, they run on dedicated, independent tracks, which allows you to precisely plan your arrival time for a lecture or exam. Buses work perfectly as a supplement to the tram network and for commuting to areas of the city where rail lines do not yet reach. It is also worth installing the Jakdojade app, which shows the real-time position of vehicles and plans the fastest transfers.
Location Matters: Commuting from ZEITRAUM Student Houses

When choosing a place to live for your studies, it is worth carefully analyzing how much time you will spend commuting to classes. In this regard, ZEITRAUM’s Krakow locations offer very specific, natural transit advantages, tightly tailored to the profiles of individual universities:

An amazing advantage of this location is the Kraków Łobzów station, which you can reach in just 2 minutes on foot. From there, you can reach the Main Station and the dead center of the city in just 4 minutes by commuter train, completely avoiding city traffic jams. You can get to the main AGH campus very efficiently – a trip by direct bus from the Łobzów SKA stop straight to the departments takes only 11 minutes. Commuting to other universities is also short. Nearby bus and tram stops guarantee that within 10–20 minutes you can easily reach classes at the Jagiellonian University (UJ), the University of National Education Commission (UKEN), the Krakow University of Economics (UEK), or the Krakow University of Technology (PK).

On the other hand, the trip to the Kraków University of Economics (UEK) takes a dozen or so minutes – the fast tram from Kuklińskiego (line 20 or 50) reaches Rondo Mogilskie in only 11–13 minutes. Commuting to other universities is equally straightforward. The main campus of the Krakow University of Technology (PK) on Warszawska Street is just 10 minutes away by tram line 50.
